Who the group is for

This is a group for Christian men who want to understand their online habits instead of hiding them. If any of this sounds familiar:

  • Your screen habits don't match your values, and willpower alone hasn't fixed it.
  • You've promised yourself it would stop, more than once, and the cycle keeps coming back.
  • You carry it alone. Nobody at church, at home or at work knows the whole story.
  • You're tired of the shame and ready to understand what's actually driving the pattern.

What the group is

Sixteen weekly online sessions, part psychoeducation and part process group, with no more than eight men.

Understanding the pattern

Each week covers one piece of how habits that feel impossible to stop take hold and why they persist, using Dr. Anna Lembke's Dopamine Nation as the shared text. Understanding the mechanism takes the mystery, and a lot of the shame, out of it.

Process, not just lectures

Half of every session is talking honestly with men walking the same road. Shame grows in isolation. It loses its grip when it's spoken out loud and met with understanding instead of judgment.

Faith-integrated

Christian faith is part of the room, not an add-on. The group approaches integrity through grace and self-compassion, not through more pressure.

Confidential and small

Eight men maximum, the same men for all sixteen weeks. Everyone agrees to confidentiality before the group begins. Meetings are online, so you join from wherever is private for you.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, California license #141641 · CSAT · Landmark Christian Counseling

Spencer is a licensed therapist in Ventura County who works with Christian men on exactly the pattern this group addresses. The CSAT credential is specialized certification in exactly this kind of pattern, so the group is run by someone who understands it clinically as well as pastorally.

His approach is simple: shame keeps the cycle going, understanding breaks it. The goal of the group is awareness, understanding and self-compassion, so that change is something you grow into rather than something you white-knuckle.

Common questions

Is the group in person or online?

Online only, over a secure video link. You can join from anywhere in California.

What does it cost?

$85 per session, paid weekly for sixteen weeks. Any questions about payment can be answered on the intro call.

Do I have to share in front of other men?

You'll be invited to, never forced. Many men say it gets easier after the first couple of weeks, and that being heard by men who understand is a big part of why the group exists.

What is Dopamine Nation?

A book by Dr. Anna Lembke, a Stanford psychiatrist, about how habits that feel impossible to stop actually work in the brain, and how balance is restored. The group reads it together, a section at a time.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Every member agrees to confidentiality before the group starts, and Spencer is bound by the same professional confidentiality that applies to therapy.

What if I'm not sure it's for me?

That's what the intro call is for. It's a conversation, not a commitment.

Ask about the next group

Leave your details and Spencer will reach out privately to set up a short call. Nothing you write here is shared with anyone else.

By sending this you're asking for information about the group. It doesn't start a therapy relationship, and this form isn't monitored around the clock. If you're in crisis, call or text 988.
